This is the third installment in the “So, you think you know ‘JACK?” series.
Originally released by Coolidge Records in 1995 as a 7-inch vinyl single, "Black Juice/Loud People" was Meatjack's third release. It was recorded in December 1994 at the band's new practice space in Baltimore, Maryland. Only a few months prior, most of the band had moved into an imposing and foreboding looking three story former funeral home which they eventually dubbed "the Meatshack". Their practice space/home recording studio was in the third floor attic.
The Meatshack not only housed several band members and their practice space, but it was also a social hub which hosted many parties, touring bands needing a place to crash, and occasional concerts, including performances by Meatjack (naturally), Dark Water Transit, Mastodon, Trephine, Stinking Lizaveta, Compression, Daybreak, SUCKPiG (Brian from Meatjack's solo project which eventually became Darsombra), Jermflux, Scrid, Tourettes Lautrec, Wälly, Cream Abdul Babar, Monger, and many others.
Coolidge Records recently had this to say: "We saw Meatjack at CBGB’s when they were still called Stranger Than Fiction. We were talking ‘band shop’ to each other and got along well. They were awesome. The music and the visuals were always great.
When we started Coolidge Records, we wanted to work with Meatjack in some form. Even though they didn’t fit into the Pop-Punk niche that we were getting ourselves into, they were still punk, doing things on their own with a positive attitude that we liked and respected.
When we received the DAT and artwork, the front cover said it all and musically we loved it. We were and still are happy with the result and proud that we had Meatjack on our label."
The last release by the band's original lineup, the "Black Juice/Loud People" single found the band still refining their sound which would be more fully realized by the time of their debut full length album "Trust" in 1999.

Meatjack was a metal band from the Baltimore, MD rock scene formed in the early '90s and active until 2005. Meatjack can be
brutal, ferocious, noisy, and dissonant. They aren't afraid to pound listeners with sensory assault, but they also have a sense of melody. allmusic.com...more
